Christmas tree recycling available to Butler Co. residents

BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Butler County residents can recycle their live Christmas trees using several community composting and chipping programs. Area trash haulers can also remove trees at the curb for disposal with regular trash.

In Hamilton, curbside collection for Christmas trees will begin Jan. 2 and will continue through the first two weeks of January. Trees are to be placed at the curb and should have all decorations removed. To schedule a pick-up, call (513) 785-7580 or visit www.hamilton-city.org for more details.

Waterworks Park on Groh Lane in Fairfield will be accepting trees until Jan. 14. The city will chip trees to produce mulch for the parks. Call (513) 867-5348 or visit www.fairfield-city.org for more information.

Oxford residents may place live Christmas trees at the curbside on regularly scheduled collection days. Trees will be picked up and recycled by the Oxford Streets and Maintenance Division. No yard waste tags are required. This pick-up service does not include wreaths or garland. Call (513) 523-8412 for more information. This service will conclude on Jan. 20.

West Chester Township residents may drop off trees at Keehner Park in the tennis court area or Beckett Park in the soccer field area until Jan. 31. The township will chip the trees for compost. General brush is not accepted. Call (513) 777-8765 for more information or visit www.westchesteroh.org.

Middletown, Monroe and Trenton residents may leave trees at the curb with their household trash for pick up by Rumpke on regular trash collection days.

Rumpke customers in Butler County can leave trees at the curb for pick up with trash. Call Rumpke at (513) 742-2900 to see if Rumpke considers your tree a "large" item. If so, you will need to schedule a special pick-up in your area.

CSI customers should call ahead for a $10 tickets for tree pick-up collection. Contact CSI at (513) 771-4200.

Tri-State Landscape Supply (formerly Mulch Plus), located at 2864 Cincinnati Dayton Rd. near Middletown/Monroe, will accept trees from composting from Butler County residents. There is a $10 fee for service. Call (513) 423-8723 for details.

All Butler County residents should remove all decorations before recycling or disposing their tree.
