COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - A new daytime curfew goes into effect Monday for students in the Covington Independent Public School district.
The new law requires school-age children, 6 to 18 years old, to be in school during the hours and days that their school is in session.
Students who violate the daytime curfew can be arrested and transported to their home, to a parent or guardian, or back to school. In addition, police officers may cite parents, guardians and juveniles, and the court may impose sanctions.
Students return to class from Christmas break on Jan. 2.
