CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Livable Communities Committee of Cincinnati City Council passed a motion Wednesday requiring the city to put up multi-lingual signs on Fountain Square.
The motion was passed two years after originally presented to the committee.
Signs on Fountain Square will be posted in Spanish and in English.
The city will work with 3CDC, which operates the square, to install the signs.
Those in favor of the signs say they will act as a warm welcome to those who don't speak English, while people who are against the signs say that people who live in Cincinnati should be able to speak and read English.
Others have concerns that making only Spanish signs leaves out many other non-English speaking people.
Full council has to approve the motion before it goes into effect.
