World Choir Games makes the call for volunteers

The World Choir Games are less than six months away from landing in the Queen City and there is plenty to do before it all comes together.

"The recruitment of volunteers. We need about 4,000 volunteers for this event," says Nick Vehr.

Vehr is the managing director for the 2012 games making its debut in the United States and set to be the largest international event to come to Cincinnati.

"It fits us like a glove, the history of music, the arts and is a common language for all of us," says Vehr.

Because the games put an international spotlight on Cincinnati, volunteers with a knack for languages are encouraged to help the city communicate with its visitors.

"We have people coming from a total of 70 countries and lots of different languages represented there so we need people who can help us with translation. We need all kinds of help," says J. Lajuana Miller with volunteer services.

The games run July 4-14 and are expected to attract more than 20,000 participants, 200,000 spectators and bring in more than 70 million dollars for the local economy.
