Driver arrested after striking pedestrian

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - A driver has been arrested after hitting a man with his car overnight in Newport.

The man was struck near Bob Roenker's Running Spot on Monmouth Street at about 2:30 a.m.

The car that hit him was seen heading south on I-471 after the crash. It was located by Fort Thomas Police about 15 minutes later.

Police arrested Dexter Campbell, 53. He is charged with wanton endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident in Newport. He's also facing a DUI charge in Fort Thomas.

The victim was taken to University Hospital with a broken leg and lacerations. He's expected to be OK.
