AKRON, OH (WOIO) -
Indicted former County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora was testy as he entered the Akron Federal Courthouse Thursday morning.
He pushed a camera with his forearm, complaining that the camera had hit him. He was clearly wrong.
Questioning of a second group of jurors has begun in the courtroom of Judge Sarah Lioi. The judge has denied a motion from defense attorneys to stay proceedings in the case. They had claimed that the charges put Dimora and co-defendant Michael Gabor in a double jeopardy situation. The judge called it a frivolous claim and refused to stop proceedings.
In a separate filing, defense lawyers have filed an appeal to the Court of Appeals to try and stop proceedings.
It is interesting to note that in the Dimora jury selection process, three jurors didn't show up Thursday and aren't answering their telephones. The judge didn't say what she will do but that she will "deal with this later."
The trial will take approximately three months and the jurors must be here daily. Some could be getting cold feet about serving.
