CONNERSVILLE, IN (FOX19) -
A man was flown to the hospital after a suspect in a high speed chase crashed into his vehicle Thursday in Fayette County.
According to the Connersville Police Department, the chase began in Rush County, Ind. when a Ryan Foster, 26, was seen leaving the scene of a robbery. Foster entered Fayette County at around 12:20 p.m. Officers from Fayette and Rush County were involved in the chase.
Foster, who was driving a red pick-up truck, led police on a chase throughout Connersville, driving the truck onto side streets and alleyways. Police say the chase reached speeds of up to 80 to 90 miles per hour.
The chase ended at around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of 30th Street and Park Road when Foster ran a stop light and hit a silver car that was being driven by Robert E. Lewis, Sr., 53. That car then hit a minivan as a result of the crash.
Lewis was flown to an Indianapolis hospital with serious injuries, but is now in stable condition. Foster was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, and is now in police custody.
Mandy Laboyteaux, 27, and Stephen Laboyteaux, 25, were in the minivan that was hit along with their 2-month old child. The parents were both taken to the hospital and have been treated and released. The child was found in a child seat unharmed.
Police say that Foster is currently on parole from prison. He now faces 16 charges in Fayette County on various traffic laws and felony criminal recklessness charges. He also faces Burglary and chase related charges in Rush County and is under investigation in Wayne County.
During the chase, two police vehicles were damaged while officers were trying to lay down stopsticks. There are no reports that any officers were hurt.
