DELHI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Fire crews responded to a house fire in Delhi Township on Tuesday morning.
Luckily the family was not home when the fire ignited in the second floor bathroom around 8:28 a.m. in the 4400 block of Foley Rd.
An engine was on the scene within five minutes. At 9:03 a.m. the fire was declared under control.
The flames were handled with one alarm, consisting of five fire units and 21 fire personnel. The crews stayed on the scene until 10:20 a.m. to help with salvage and clean up. No firefighters were injured.
After an investigation, the fire was ruled an accident by the improper disposal of smoking materials. Smoking is the number one cause of home fire death in the United States.
The estimated damage to the house and its contents is $50,000.
