Cause of death released for man found in gravel quarry

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) -

The Warren County Coroner's Office has determined a cause of death for a man found in a gravel quarry Monday afternoon.

Workers found Mark Gates, 31, under his vehicle in a gravel pit at the Oeder & Sons Sand and Gravel at 1000 Mason Morrow Millgrove Rd. in South Lebanon.

According to police, Gates apparently lost control of the car while driving on Mason Morrow Millgrove Rd. and struck a mound of gravel on the property of Oeder & Sons and came to rest. Police then say Gates must have gotten out of car and to check the damage. After that, the car shifted in the gravel trapping him beneath the car in a large pool of water where he drowned.

Police say no signs of foul play were found at the scene, and all indications point to an accident.
