COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy was injured while trying to apprehend an OVI suspect.

The deputy spotted a car driving left of center after it left the Motel 6 on Kennedy Avenue in Columbia Township around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop and the driver refused to pull over.

The deputy chased Darwin Weaver, 61, onto Montgomery Road and he eventually stopped in the 6900 block. Sheriff's officials say the deputy had to remove Weaver from the car and that's when the car began rolling in reverse. The driver's side door struck the deputy, causing him to be knocked to the ground. The vehicles front tire then rolled over the deputy's left leg.

The vehicle continued rolling and hit the deputy's cruiser before ending up in a front yard on Montgomery Road.

The deputy was treated and released for his injuries.

Weaver is charged with resisting arrest, failure to comply and OVI.
