Lady Surge Continue Perfect Season

The Cincinnati State women's basketball team beat the Owens Community College Express in overtime by a score of 92 to 84.

In a game featuring two teams currently ranked in the top ten in the NJCAA national poll, the Surge, who currently rank second in the polls, traveled to face undoubtedly the toughest test of the year in 8th ranked Owens. Throughout the first and second half, neither team led by more than six points. In the final Owens possession of regulation, guard Uniqua Mitchell hit a game tying three with 10 seconds left on the clock which would eventually send the game into overtime.

Overtime would prove to be all Cincinnati State. The Surge forced Owens in to several turnovers resulting in fast break points while claiming a 10 point lead to ultimately earn the victory. Kara McLemore, who scored 5 big points in the overtime period, led the Surge with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Backcourt teammates Dede Henry and Dominique Fischer each scored 17 points in the victory. Asia Dillingham chipped in with 11 points as the Surge claimed their 17th win of the season.

Staying perfect at 17-0 with a 3-0 conference record, the Cincinnati State Surge will return home to face Columbus State on Wednesday, January 25th at 5:30 PM.
