Marine is welcomed home after serving in Afghanistan

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Friends and family welcomed home a local Marine on Sunday afternoon after serving months in Afghanistan.

Lance Corporal Kevin Knight, a 2008 graduate of Anderson High School, is home on leave after serving eight months in Southern Afghanistan.

The celebration was part of Gold Star's Serving Our Troops program to honor troops and their families for their service.

"It does make me feel good that you know, it just kind of shows you the support of the community and everything and it's nice to have that, even you know having your home town supporting you," said LCpl Knight.

LCpl Knight was awarded with 10 different honors for his service since enlisting in the US Marine Corps, including the Humanitarian Medal for his service in Haiti. He will resume his deployment on Feb. 10.
