HEBRON, KY (FOX19) - DHL received approval from the state of Kentucky Thursday to expand its facility at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport.
The $46 million expansion project would add a 193,000-square-foot sort facility adjacent to the existing building. The project would also bring improvements to the main building.
According to a spokesperson with DHL, the expansion would bring 120 new full time jobs and 163 new part time jobs to the area.
The expansion is still awaiting approval from Boone County, who is scheduled to meet about the project in February. If the expansion is approved, DHL hopes to have the facility operational by November, and fully completed in March 2013.
The DHL Express hub at the CVG airport serves as the shipping company's primary sorting facility in North America, receiving about 92% of all mail shipped through DHL. Currently, they employ about 2,000 workers.
