Community chefs compete in soup cook off for a good cause

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Community chefs competed in the Eighth Annual Chicken Soup Cook Off on Sunday afternoon.

The competition took place at Wise Temple and benefits the OTR Soup Kitchen. All participating restaurants will donate one gallon of soup to the Freestore Foodbank.

"We have given at least 300 gallons over the years to them. We are happy to help feed the homeless," said Dr. Jay Rissover, the event co-chairman.

Last year's event raised more than 132 gallons of soup, which is more than 1,900 servings.

Izzy's restaurant was among the winners for the best chicken noodle soup in the professional division. In the amateur division, Jeremy Richards was among the winners.
