BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - A sub shop chain that was opened by two firefighting brothers gave back to the community on Thursday.
Two local Firehouse Subs locations gave thousands of dollars worth of equipment to local fire departments. The Blue Ash Fire Department received a live fire extinguisher training system, worth more than $10,000. The new simulator will allow firefighters to instruct residents in the community on proper fire extinguisher use.
The Loveland Symmes Fire Department received a new smoke generator and training mannequin, which will help firefighters prepare for life-threatening situations. The equipment was worth more than $8,000.
The two fire departments received the equipment during a ceremony at nearby Firehouse Subs locations.
Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to provide funding, life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to aid first-responders. Since 2005, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has donated nearly $80,000 to public safety entities in Ohio.
