JACKSON COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Indiana State Police have arrested a man wanted in Kentucky for failing to register as a sex offender.
Police pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation on I-65 in Jackson County for a traffic violation. The trooper reportedly became concerned for his safety when the occupants of the vehicle continued to make suspicious movements after being pulled over. The trooper then searched the passenger, Donald R. Tyler, 30, and found a loaded 9 mm handgun.
Once the trooper positively identified Tyler, he was discovered to be wanted on a warrant in Kentucky for failing to register as a sex offender. He was arrested on that warrant, and also Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon and two counts of False Informing.
Tyler was transported to the Jackson County Jail in Indiana without incident.
The driver in the incident was not charged.
