Wings rule Super Bowl menu

WHITE OAK, OH (FOX 19) -

Super Bowl Sunday translates into some big business for restaurant owners. From pizza to wings the phones were constantly ringing as people made sure their parties were well stocked, making for a strong night of sales.

Restaurants like Crossroads Sports Bar and Grill in White Oak saw a steady stream of customers by late afternoon. Crossroads sells about 500 on a normal Sunday but Super Sunday is different.

"We put 4,000 chicken wings out in probably two and a half hours," said co-owner, Jeff Schoenling.

Why are wings so popular with the crowds?

"I don't have to cook an appetizer," said customer Don Breets. "This is the easiest way to bring it. And they're excellent wings."

Crossroads need to beef up its usual Sunday staffing to make sure they would meet the demand.

"We had three people come in at 9:00 (Sunday.) Normally, we just have one person come in to open the kitchen, but we've been cooking chicken wings since 9:00 Sunday morning," said Schoenling.
