Alleged burglar found hiding underneath church pew

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A homeless man is facing charges after police say he stole items from a church and then hid under a pew.

Vaughn Whitehead, 38, is charged with one count of breaking and entering and carrying a concealed weapon.

According to Hamilton County court documents, police responded to the Church of God in the 3700 block of Vine Street on Sunday to investigate a burglar alarm.

A K-9 unit located Whitehead hiding under a church pew. Police searched him and found items belonging to the church inside his pockets. Officers also found a pocket knife.

Whitehead was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
