Car hits grocery store, causes gas line rupture

GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A Green Township grocery store was evacuated Tuesday morning after a car struck the building and hit a gas line.

It happened just after 8:30 a.m. at Hatting Super Market in the 6100 block of Bridgetown Road.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says Marie Conners, 55, of Green Township, was attempting to back out of a parking space when her BMW went into drive, causing it to hit the building and the gas main.

The store was evacuated to allow for the Green Township fire department to ventilate the building of any residual gas.

No one was injured. The building suffered minor damage and should reopen later in the day.

Police believe the car had a mechanical problem that caused the crash, and drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be factors.
