Hamilton Fire units had to deal with live ammunition while fighting a house fire Tuesday morning.
It happened at a single family ranch home in the 700 block of Cleveland Avenue and was discovered by fire and EMS units that were clearing an EMS call at a residence across the street from the fire. Additional units were sent and the fire was brought under control within 10 to 15 minutes.
No one was home at the time of the fire. The fire is currently under investigation.
The fire was contained to a single bedroom and hallway, while the rest of the house suffered heat and smoke damage throughout.
Fire fighters had to deal with live ammunition exploding around them as they extinguished the fire, and had to keep the blaze from spreading to a residence next door. That residence only suffered minor cosmetic damage.
No one was hurt.
