Butler County teen to be tried as adult in group home killing

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

A Butler County Juvenile Court Judge has decided a 17-year-old will be tried for murder as an adult in a December killing in a group home.

Judge Ronald Craft immediately set a bond of one million dollars for the suspect, Lance Tiernan.

After testimony from the investigating detective, the defense argued that since Anthony Parker initially appeared to be okay, the case should be kept in juvenile court.  The judge disagreed and sent the case to the grand jury with a murder charge.

Police say Tiernan attacked Anthony Parker, 16, at One Way Farm in December 2011. Parker died a few days later from serious head injuries.

Since Tiernan is 17, he is being held in a separate area in the Butler County Jail.

Tiernan faces 15 years to life in prison plus a $15,000 fine if convicted.
