HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Members of the Dayton chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference met in Hamilton Saturday evening to discuss a host of things they say the city of Hamilton needs to work on when it comes to race relations.
Topics the SCLC discussed during the meeting included asking the city to employ more people of color, encouraging more minorities to vote, and asking the school board to hire more African Americans and other minority teachers, principals and counselors.
Bishop Richard Cox, president of the Dayton chapter of the SCLC, said, "This is a movement whose time has come. We're moving in the right direction and we need their support for town hall meetings. They can't sit back at home and expect the city to change. They have to change the city."
The group is also reportedly planning demonstrations against the city of Hamilton.
