DAYTON, KY (FOX19) -

A fire that broke out in the home of an assault suspect spread to a second home Monday morning.

Flames broke out before 5 a.m. at a home in the 200 block of Third Street. Dayton fire investigators say David Joseph Vickers, 43, lived in the home. He is currently in the Campbell County Detention Center on a first degree assault charge. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire.

The fire then spread to a neighboring home. The family living in that home was able to get out unharmed.

The first home suffered about $50,000 in damage. The second home suffered some shingle and window damage.

So far, there is no word on what started the fire. Arson investigators are looking into the cause.
