HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Transition centers operated by Butler County Workforce One are opening throughout Butler County.
The center in Hamilton is the first of its kind in Butler County and it's strategically placed near Mohawk Fine Paper who recently shut their doors laying off 137 people.
There are other Butler County businesses that have had major layoffs over the last four months.
Liz Claiborne in West Chester laid off 365 employees, Diversapack of Monroe- 173 employees and Pella Corporation in Fairfield -158 employees.
The state funded New Start Transition Center in Hamilton is helping laid off workers from Mohawk and SMART Paper Companies.
"The folks coming in the door, they really walked out of here with a sense of pride, knowing they just updated their skills and help them find a job," said Adam Jones with Butler County Workforce One.
A second transition center will be opened in Middletown on March 1st to help laid off workers from Liz Claiborne and Diversapack.
