Local teen goes forward on American Idol

Eben Christian Eben Christian
LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX19) -

A Milford High School freshman will be continuing to perform on American Idol.

Eben Christian, 15, performed Duffy's "Mercy" with his group, the Hollywood 5.

All five members of his group advanced to the next round of performances on Hollywood Week. Eben then made it to the final round in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas performances will be aired Thursday on FOX19 at 8:00 pm.

Wednesday's episode also featured Eben waiting for the judges to tell them who will be going to the Las Vegas performances. In the interview, Eben said, "You just wait here and hope for the best. [You] hope that they liked you and want you to go to the next round."

FOX19's Kimberly Holmes Wiggins spoke to Eben earlier this month. You can see the whole conversation here.

Another local teen, Courtney Flege of Walton, got the Golden Ticket, but didn't make it past the Hollywood round. A post on Flege's Facebook wall reads, "I can not thank you all enough for your support and love during this journey, you may have noticed that Courtney was not included in Idol footage....she did get 3 excited judges to give her a Yes, She did go Hollywood, She did not advance...Her spirits have not been dampered, quite the opposite, she is excited and determined to continue to pursue her dreams."
