CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A local group of military veterans met at the Montgomery Inn Boat House to celebrate the return of their adoptive unit in Afghanistan. They are trying to raise some money to continue their efforts to provide things like care packages to the troops overseas.
The Hoffman family of Fort Thomas family has nothing but words of praise for this group of caregivers.
"The group was very supportive of us. They supported us the whole time we were out there and we really appreciated it," said Lt. Charles Hoffman, who is still at Fort Campbell and returning to the Tri-State on Thursday.
"They have been flying some of the most dangerous missions in Afghanistan right on the Pakistan border," said Paul Wiley, who heads the group who adopted the 159th Aviation Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division.
Hoffman, a 2006 Newport Catholic High School and 2010 University of Kentucky graduate, is looking forward to coming home saying he will take in some races at Turfway Park and have dinner at one of his favorite restaurants, Dixie Chili.
