FRANKFORT, KY (FOX19) - The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) now has the complete collection of Confederate Pension Application files in digital format.

These applications are searchable by name, unit and country. They have an array of information to all who are interested in Civil War history.

The Confederate Pension Act was passed in March 1912 to give disabled Confederate veterans and their widows aid.

These pensions were funded by the government.

These applications are an important and valuable piece of information because this could be the only record of a veteran's service.

This digital service was funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Service and Technology Act.
