Local Idol contestant performing for America's vote

MILFORD, OH (FOX19) - American Idol contestant and Milford High School freshman Eben Christian Franckewitz is performing live Tuesday night.

Eben, 15,  made it to the Top 24 on American Idol last week and will sing live for America's votes.

Eben auditioned for Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson in Pittsburgh, where he impressed the judges with his performance of "Ain't No Sunshine.

Three viewing parties are happening Tuesday evening in Milford.

Milford high school, Buffalo Wild Wings in Milford and Putter's Bar and Grill are all locations for Eben viewing parties at 8 p.m.

Just hours before Eben Christian Franckewitz performs his first song for the American viewers and voters, his fellow classmates at Milford High School are throwing their full support behind him.

The freshmen class designed black and red T-shirts that say "Milford's Idol" on the front and "Vote 4 Eben" on the back.

"Seemed like the easiest was just to make T-shirts or designs because everybody sees it. Then because you walk around the school wearing it, like people see it," says longtime childhood friend Rachel Johnson.

Milford 9th grade science teacher Jeanette Holmer loved the idea and decided to help the students get them made and sell them in school.

"I really think it's important for us to show our support so that the community and the city know that his school is behind him, his classmates are behind him," says Holmer.

So far almost all 150 shirts have been sold and the group is ready to make more in hopes Eben continues on as an American Idol contestant.

American Idol airs on FOX19 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m.
