SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Parents gathered at Sycamore High School to learn how the school will soon be entering the social media world.
The school says it plans to go from having just a website to operating their own Facebook page. The intent is to get information out to parents and students in a more informal setting.
"Typically a school district has a website and every once in a while they get a press release or some photos up there. With a Facebook page, it's more real-time so you can consistently update it and provide all kinds of video, photos and content you're not going to find on a platform like a website," said Shane Haggerty of Great Heights Communication Company.
Sycamore High School says they will be monitoring the comments posted on their Facebook page to keep it kid-safe.
