UNION TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Sources tell FOX19 that a new Children's Hospital is coming to Union Township in Clermont County.
The sources say that it will be built on land located north of Total Quality Logistics on Eastgate Boulevard adjacent to Interstate 275 south of OH-32 and north of Beechmont Avenue. Sources also tell FOX19 that TQL is in negotiations to sell several parcels of land to Children's Hospital to build the facility.
The new hospital will be similar to the Children's Hospital in West Chester and will have a trauma center with trauma unit helicopters. It will bring hundreds of jobs to the area, but exactly how many is unclear. The hospital will close its satellite offices in Eastgate and Anderson. Groundbreaking will begin in 2013 and the hospital will open in late 2014 or early 2015.
Children's Hospital has released a statement saying that they have no plans to build a hospital on the site and have not purchased any land:
You may have heard or read some inaccurate media reports suggesting that Cincinnati Children's has purchased land to build a hospital in Union Township. The facts are that we have not signed contracts to purchase any land in Union Township and we currently do not own land there. In fact, we are in the process of extending our current lease agreements at the Anderson and Eastgate outpatient facilities in that community. Of course, we are always exploring options to better deliver health care to patients and families and we will continue to do that. - Jim Feuer, Media Relations Manager Children's Hospital Medical Center
FOX19's sources maintain that the deal will still go through and that a new hospital will be built on the site in Union Township.
