PINER, KY (FOX19) -
Three people are confirmed dead and a couple people are still missing after strong storms hit Piner, KY.
The National Weather Service is reporting that it was an EF3 that hit the area. The Tornado began near Crittenden, KY and continued to move East toward Piner, KY
The affected area is concentrated between Kentucky 16 and the Kenton County border with Grant and Pendleton Counties.
73-year-old Linda Beemon and 78-year-old Donald Beemon were killed in their home on Old Lexington Pike. 49-year-old James Brooks of Dry Ridge was killing while he was in his car driving on US 25 near Old Lexington Pike.
An emergency shelter has been set up by the Red Cross at the Grant County High School.
Volunteers are asked to stay away from the area because downed power lines are other hazards need to be taken care of before the police can clean up the area.
Rescue personnel have completed initial checks of all the buildings in the area and are currently in the process of a full round of second checks.
