St Clair Township (FOX19) - A Middletown man is under arrest after police say he intentionally crashed his SUV in an attempt to kill himself and his girlfriend.
Police say 38-year-old Randell Gabbard crashed his SUV into some trees off of Riverside Drive in St. Clair Township around 12:15 Sunday afternoon. When police and ambulance personnel arrived on the scene, he told St. Clair Life Squad members and a Deputy Sheriff he was trying to kill himself and his girlfriend, Melody Roberts, who was in the front passenger seat of the SUV at the time of the crash.
Roberts told police Gabbard told her he was going to kill them both before he accelerated and crashed into some trees and brush. She was taken to Middletown Atrium Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Gabbard was taken to Fort Hamilton Hospital and was released into police custody. He charged with attempted murder and domestic violence and is currently in the Butler County Jail.
