HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Careflight was called to an accident in Hamilton Township in Warren County Wednesday evening.

The two-vehicle accident happened on the 1300 block of US-22/OH-3. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a gold 2002 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Katherine G. Howell, 19, was traveling west on the highway when she drove left of center and struck a white Infinity QX56 head-on.

Careflight transported Powell to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, William J. Howell, 19, was transported to Bethesda North Hospital, and a 13-month-old in a car seat in the back seat of the Elantra was transported by ambulance to Cincinnati Children's Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Infinity, Lynn F. Kukanza, 41, and her stepson were both transported to Bethesda Arrow Springs, where they were treated and released.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident. Alcohol is not believed to be involved, but they say some victims were not wearing seatbelts.
