CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cuyahoga County leaders are sounding off about the conviction of former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason had been political pals with Dimora, but didn't get caught up in the corruption investigation.

19 Action News caught up with Mason moments after the guilty verdict came down in the Jimmy Dimora Corruption trial Friday. Mason discussed the case saying only "well he was investigated, prosecuted, the justice system played out. Time to move on" said Mason

Mason also said that had he known about the corruption, Dimora would have been prosecuted too. "I've prosecuted, this is my 14th year, 321 public officials including Sheriff McFaul. If anybody had brought any facts to me upon which we could move forward on-- or brought it to my attention--we would've investigated it. It just didn't happen. We were unaware of this"" said Mason.

Meantime, 19 Action News has found workers in county buildings hanging on every new development as the Dimora case played out. Many of them privately reacting, overjoyed about the guilty verdicts and that he'd been locked up.
