Southern Poverty Law Center says 6 hate groups active in the Tri-State

Hate groups are active in West Chester, West College Corner, Cincinnati, Alexandria, and Union, according to an annual report released by the Southern Poverty Law Center.  The SPLC is a group known for tracking and suing Ku Klux Klan groups, putting some of them out of business.

The SPLC says a group called the United Northern and Southern Knights of the Ku Klux Klan has a location in West College Corner IN, a tiny town in Union County contiguous with College Corner, OH, which is northwest of Oxford.  Online articles say this is the Indiana state office for the group, which says it is a more modern version of the Klan, and claims membership in a number of states.

The SPLC says the Nation of Islam, which is a large and visible group nationally, Dr. Louis Farrakhan's group, has a presence in Cincinnati, though a local address or website is hard to come by.  Years ago they had a large facility in College Hill.  The SPLC also says The National Alliance, a white supremacist group, is active in Cincinnati.  That group's national website claims a presence here and in 7 other places, and gives toll-free hotline number for the group.  Hate fliers attributed to the group have shown up overnight in several neighborhoods around the Tri-State in recent years.

The report also mentions Christ or Chaos of West Chester.  They describe it as a group embracing "Radical Traditional Catholicism", which they say "may make up the largest single group of anti-Semites in America".  The SPLC says that these groups reject Vatican II and hold masses in Latin, they should not be confused with other groups who do so out of tradition.  Christ or Chaos has a website that is primarily devoted to the writings of a Dr. Thomas A. Drolesky and appears to be run by him.

The SPLC lists two Christian Identity groups in Northern Kentucky. They describe Christian Identity as an ideology that God's chosen people are the racial groups that were found in Northwest Europe, like the Anglo-Saxons, Celts, Germanics peoples, and Scandinavians.  One of the places mentioned is Fellowship of God's Covenant People in Union, which operates a website that lists two pastors and has sections on "Jewish Ritual Murders" and "Abraham Lincoln, Political Tyrant".  The other, Kinsman Redeemer Ministries of Alexandria, has a website that espouses similar views.
