Mild winter saves millions for Ohio Transportation Department

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Ohio's mild winter has saved the state's transportation department $43 million so far.

Last year, the state spent $80 million to clear ice and snow from the roadways. The department's spokesperson says the money saved can now be used for other projects, such as road improvements and repairing guardrails.

Ohio has about $2 billion worth of projects that need funding.
