Death of 4-month old baby ruled a homicide

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

The Hamilton county coroner has officially ruled the death of a 4-month old boy a homicide.

Medics were called to a home on Springvale Drive in the early morning hours of Feb. 29 on a report that 4-month-old James Smith was unresponsive.

Police reports say upon arrival crews found that James had "visible signs of injury." They did not specify where the injuries were located on the infant's body.

According to the police report the baby was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton. He was later moved to Children's Hospital in Corryville where he died, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.

This case remains under investigation by the coroner's office and the Hamilton Police Department.
