AKRON, OH (WOIO) -
After a full day of closed door negotiations in the chambers of Federal Judge Sarah Lioi, attorneys for Jimmy Dimora have reached agreement on how much of Dimora's property will be forfeited to the government.
Jimmy Dimora must forfeit all his savings accounts. His wife, Lori gets to keep any that are just in her name. He forfeits his interest in the home, Lori keeps hers. However if Dimora's appeal fails she must move out of the house within 6 months. The proceeds will go half to her and half to the government.
Judge Lioi has suggested a sentencing date for Dimora of July 25th at 1:30. Michael Gabor will be sentenced at 10 AM that same day. This is to allow time for a pre-sentence investigation of Dimora which will include facts that the judge will take into consideration when she decides how long he'll spend in prison.
The US Attorney's office released this statement following today's proceedings:
While we are pleased with the jury's verdict, we're also aware that this case is a sad one. It's sad for the people of Cuyahoga County, who learned over the course of this trial that some of their elected officials were there for self-service, not public service. It's sad for the people of Cuyahoga County, who learned about the pervasiveness of corruption, in shocking detail, during this trial. This result would not have been possible without the incredible dedication and hard work of the FBI and IRS agents and Assistant US Attorneys who worked on this case. Their selfless service serves as a stark contrast of the behavior of the defendants in this case.
