RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Three years ago, Jennifer Kaufman and Karen Kardian created Kids Layne, an upscale children's consignment sale. They found there was a need to expand to adults.
"We offer an ability for people to find the brands they are looking for without having to dig through a lot of different clothing brands," said Jennifer Kaufman, Ladies Layne Co-owner.
Brands like Talbots, Ann Taylor, Michael Stars and Dansko.
"They can save between 40-80%," Kaufman said.
One of Richmond's more desired brands is Lily Pulitzer and they a ton of them here. A dress like this would retail for more than $200. Here, it only costs $40.
The consigned items come from Richmond Ladies as well as brand new boutique overstock items.
"Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, all those are well represented here," said Alison Brown.
Brown is the owner of Richmondbargains.com so she's always looking for a deal. She says labels like these hold the key to quality when it comes to buying secondhand merchandise.
"They generally seem to last me longer and look better for a longer period of time," she explained.
Ladies Layne focuses on women's clothing, but carries men's and children's as well, selling name brand shoes.
"Dansko's for 25 dollars, they're normally pushing $100," Brown said.
Scarves, belts and designer handbags -- all at a fraction of their original price. A $150 Michael Kors shirt is only $20. This Coach purse is $50. In the home décor section, spicing up a drab room is affordable with a pair Moroccan Umbrellas for $15.
"We're bringing great items at great prices," Kaufman said.
Ladies Layne two day sale will start Friday at 9 a.m. It's located in Henrico at the corner of Patterson Avenue and Starling Drive in the old Rite Aid building.
