Man electrocuted at Duke Energy substation

WINTON TERRACE, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Police are investigating the death of a man after he allegedly broke into a Duke Energy substation and was electrocuted Sunday afternoon.

It happened around noon at the substation at the intersection of Kings Run Drive and Este Avenue.

Sally Thelen with Duke Energy says the man was tampering with equipment when he was killed. In a statement to FOX19, Thelen says, "We do want to emphasize that tampering with electrical equipment can carry extremely dangerous consequences, including death."

To make repairs Duke interrupted service to about 2,500 customers around 12:15 for about 45 minutes.
