BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) - Bellevue students are going green after raising money for solar panels for the school's roof.
The kids learned about the benefits of solar panels and then presented prospective donors with how the school would be more energy efficient if the panels were installed.
"Students wanted to do something to make our school a little more green, a little more eco-friendly. They wanted to do a green roof and then we found out that our roof was not able to support the green roof so they kind of switched gears to the solar panel," said Sally Wyatt, a teacher at Bellevue High School.
The community supported the students by donating enough money to install two solar panels which will power at least one classroom. The fundraising is ongoing as they hope to install additional panels.
