Carthage fires being called suspicious

CARTHAGE, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati fire crews are calling a pair of fires in Carthage suspicious.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. at the intersection on Red Eagle Way.

Initial arriving units reported heavy smoke in the area. Arriving companies found a working fire in a single story detached garage.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the garage, however the garage was unable to be saved.

While extinguishing this garage fire, companies discovered another garage fire approximately 4 doors from the first one. The early discovery allowed firefighters to quickly extinguish the fire and save the second structure.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.

Due to having two almost simultaneous fires in the same area, the fires are listed as suspicious.

The cause is undetermined at this time. Damage is estimated at $20,000.
