CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati streetcar project wants to get more women and minority owned businesses involved in the construction process for the streetcar.
A meeting is being held Thursday night to get interested companies to register as a "Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)."
The overall goal of the federal DBE program is to ensure that firms owned and controlled by minorities, women and other socially and economically disadvantaged persons have the opportunity to grow and become self-sufficient in order to create a level playing field. The program wants all companies competing fairly for contracts and subcontracts in the transportation industry.
The free outreach session is hosted by the Cincinnati streetcar project team. It starts at 6 p.m. at the Duke Energy Convention Center and is free.
