Man accused of killing father-in-law pleads not guilty

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A man who is accused of killing his father-in-law appeared in court on Friday.

David Franks, 45, appearing in court in a wheelchair, pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, three counts of attempted aggravated murder and two counts of aggravated burglary.

Franks is accused of shooting and killing James Schobert, the father of his estranged wife, earlier this month in Green Township. He is also accused of firing shots at police officers and was subsequently shot by officers.

Franks is expected to claim insanity. He faces the death penalty if convicted.

A judge also revoked Franks' bond. It was originally set for $3 million.
