The Cincinnati Mall lands new tenants, plans name change

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) -

Over the past several months the Cincinnati Mall has landed some tenants who owners hope could bring the mall back to life.

Cincinnati Mall officials say one of the biggest challenges now is changing its image.

Director of Business Development Karla Ellsworth says big changes are coming, including a name change.

"We're going back to Forest Fair, however we are changing that to Forest Fair Village. Again we are not a mall, we don't want to be a mall, we are not trying to compete with other malls, we're so much more," said Ellsworth.

The new Forest Fair Village will have a sports complex with three ice rinks and volleyball courts, a new fitness complex and many other fun places for the whole family.

"There needed to be a reason to come here and these activities, these family friendly activities, people will come here for those," said Ellsworth.

A new night club called The Place to Be is taking the place of Metropolis Nightclub. According to Ellsworth, the new nightclub will be different under new ownership.

"Two of the owners are retired police officers, so they have a different perception. They're not typical night club people, so they have a different perception on what it means to be safe and the type of clientele they are looking for," she said.

Most of the new businesses will be open by this summer or by the fall.
