Woman shot by possible stray bullet while walking near UC Hospital

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A woman was shot by a possible stray bullet Tuesday morning near University of Cincinnati Hospital.

According to a UC spokesperson, Tinia Osborne, 57, of Forest Park, was walking across the lawn on Piedmont Avenue toward the Barrett Cancer Center when she was struck.

Osborne was taken into the hospital for treatment.  Officials say she's in fair condition.

There are no suspects at this time, and the University of Cincinnati Police are conducting the investigation.  Chief Michael Cureton says police are asking for help in order to figure out what happened, and says it is odd that in the middle of the day, in such a busy area, that no one has said they saw what happened.

"It's one thing to come to the hospital for your health. It's another to fear for your life," said Tonnisha Findley, who was visiting UC Hospital on Tuesday.

Police were originally focusing their investigation in an apartment building on the corner of Martin Luther King and Eden, according to Hospital Spokesperson Diana Lara, but Chief Cureton said he did not believe that the apartment complex was part of the investigation any longer.

If anyone has information about this incident please call the University of Cincinnati Police at 513-556-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
