SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19) - A man was jailed on attempted aggravated murder and rape charges after a naked woman wandered into a Springfield Township yard.

Thursday afternoon, a resident called 911 after a naked 40-year-old woman showed up to her Compton Road home with her hands bound and a bag over her head.

"We covered her with a blanket," said Yvonne Harris. "She kept saying, 'He's going to kill me. Help me before he comes back.'"

The victim told police that Cowan Mitchell II picked her up on Central Parkway and drove her to his Springfield Township home.

There, the victim says Mitchell sexually assaulted her, bound her hands and placed a bag over her head.  The victim told police the suspect then placed her in a closet.

The victim was able to free herself and went to a nearby home to call for help.

A short time later, Mitchell, 34, was arrested. Police gathered evidence from the Compton Road home.

"The evidence that we recovered here at the scene and the condition of the victim (is the reason) we're concerned that there may be...have been other incidents like this," said Springfield Township police chief Dave Heimpold.

Mitchell is in the Hamilton County jail, charged with rape, attempted aggravated murder, kidnapping and felonious assault.

At his arraignment Friday morning, his bond was set at $250,000 on each charge.
