CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - It's a big week for baseball fans as the Cincinnati Reds prepare to open their season at Great American Ballpark on Thursday. Opening day is also good for the Tri-State's economy.
With new businesses at The Banks, the bars and restaurants on the Cincinnati side of the river are expecting big crowds. "It was busy man. It was shoulder to shoulder," said Holy Grail bar manager, Cody Gilmour reflecting back on Opening Day 2011. "We were in the trenches."
The Holy Grail was the only bar and restaurant open this time last year near the ballpark. This year, however, several others have come online including, Moerlein Lager House, Toby Keith's and Rockets. "We're excited to have some new business joining the force this year and helping us out. I think its going to bring more people down this year for sure," said Gilmour.
Reds Chief Operating Officer, Phil Castellini said, "People bouncing in and out of those bars down there is going to be a fantastic sight."
