Fans look to the Futures for Cincinnati baseball

With just a small sneak peek at the 2012 season, fans are already buzzing about Futures second baseman Billy Hamilton.

"We're here to see Billy," said one fan who waited 40 minutes in line to grab his autograph.

Two days before Opening Day, Great American Ball Park opened its gates and ticket windows to thousands of fans ready for baseball season to begin.

"The fact that my kids get to see the Futures, it's what they like to be when they grow up. It's just a fun family outing," said Beth Ballauer.

"Hopefully we'll see some guys that will be up here in a year or two and things are looking bright for the Reds so it should be a great year," said Jake Cain who brought his 13-month-old and 2-month-old sons to the game.

"We're coming to Opening Day too so we've been big Reds fans and my dad always brought me to games so I wanted to bring my boys to the games too."

Long time Reds fan Patty Munyam is looking forward to a successful Reds season but threw her support behind the Futures.

"I"I'm going to root for the new ones simply because we need the new ones to keep it going," said Munyam.

According to fans Hamilton is the one to watch with his high speeds running the bases.

"Once you say you getting good you can always get better so that's my goal just to not worry about the hype, just stay humble, come out here hard everyday," said Hamilton.

Hamilton and the Futures beat the Reds 2-1 in 7seven innings before a crowd of 12,700.
