Results from the new Greater Cincinnati Health Status survey shows adults in Butler County are eating more fast food compared to adults in other nearby counties.
The survey reports 67 percent of Butler County adults eat fast food at least once a week, compared to 60 percent of adults in Greater Cincinnati.
Convenience is one of the main reasons residents gave as to why fast food is so popular.
Certified diabetes educator Jackie Brown saw the results from the survey and says there is a link between diabetes and fast food consumption.
"I find that most people who end up with diabetes are eating out, three or four times a week, sometimes for every lunch they are eating out," said Brown.
She says everyone's body responds differently to fast food, but even having it once a week has an impact. Brown advises eating at home whenever possible and to choose healthier options if you must eat out.
